[Government of Gujarat ]
Hon. Chief Minister
Gujarat State desires that Gujarat urban towns be more livable, efficient,
productive, clean and vibrant in coming years. As you know that, as per 2001
provisional census Gujarat ranks third on the scale of urbanization with 38%
percent of its population living in urban areas with 242 urban centers. Ahmedabad is the seventh largest city in India with agglomeration population of
forty five lacs linked with Gandhinagar, the State Capital. Considering present
trend of urban population growth the population of Ahmedabad urban agglomeration
will be One Crore and the State will have 50% population living in urban areas
by 2025.
In this regard, I
may draw your kind attention that for efficient management of urban resources
and making efficient towns assume paramount importance. We have improved our
obligatory services by providing better civic amenities, citizen charter,
e-governance, affordable urban transportation, urban poverty alleviation, land
use & growth management so as to make better urban environment. The department
has been implementing the infrastructure of 14 earthquake towns. The information
of my department on website will be helpful to all the users and the departments
and offices for the outline of the programme and development scenario of the
urban sector.
I have planned to
solve the challenges / problems& issues of the urban sector. It is in this
direction, I am happy to launch this website which will be very much useful to
all concern.
Jay Hind.
